Easter Sale Bargains & Outfit Round-Up

So this post started out with wanting to share the Mint Velvet mid-season sale which caught my eye yesterday, and ended up with a major fall-out with the laptop as I struggled to do fancy photo collages. I should have spent the last 2 hours ironing but instead I made up these 3 images. You know who to call if you need some graphic design work done...

I've not looked at Mint Velvet for a season or just went under my radar a bit...but I saw one of those annoying Facebook ads and I had 10 minutes to spare so I had a quick peek at the sale and quite a bit took my fancy, starting with a light blue biker jacket. This is a new wish list item after seeing Mariah Carey in James Corden's car for The Late Late Show in the US - the video's on the link if you've not seen it yet. She looks fab in hers. I'm also loving the sequin jumpsuit, though purely for choir purposes...I'm always on the look out for black sparkly stuff in sales to wear at concerts. The khaki jumpsuit is a SS15 essential if you read the fashion press. I think it's a great day-time item that would look fab with a denim jacket and flat sandals in warmer weather (as a storm blows outside's understandably hard to imagine this)

Looking at Mint Velvet got me thinking about other stores I've neglected in recent seasons. Gap is a case in point as I don't have a store that is easy to visit and I know there's an ongoing issue with their online vs in-store stock (and prices). But there are some amazing SS15 items in the online sale right now including these classic leather ballet pumps and some AMAZING handbags - how have I missed these? They're 50% off and the leather looks lovely in the photos. Has anyone seen them in RL? I'm going to order them for research (ha!) and will report back.

I've also neglected Boden in recent months thanks to the house move but this time of year is the best time to pick up their autumn/winter items for next year. The Ingrid coat always looks amazing on Nicki (check out her blog here) and bright statement wool coats will never go out of style. They look amazing with jeans and a breton on the school run but also work really well in a work wardrobe to brighten up a dark suit. I've picked out some going-out tops that are always going to be useful wardrobe additions - especially at these prices. Johnnie B is good for a punt in the sale and I'm aware that lots of mums have ordered the skinny jeans and the Honor top. Worth trying with a free returns label so I've ordered these too and will report back. Would love to order the coats but I'm afraid I'll keep them..and we all know I do not need more coats in my wardrobe.

  1. This post made me smile - I feel your pain! I spent many a 'happy' hour trying to get my browser and Polyvore to be friends when I first started blogging. This technical stuff isn't easy, is it? :-D

Mint Velvet have fallen off my radar a bit this season, I think I crave colour at this time of year, but there are some great bargains there. I have promised myself some Gap wedges this year, having lusted after some all last Summer and then leaving it too late to buy. (Typical) I did fare better at Boden, where i got a pair of ponyskin biker boots for the grand total of £17.52 (from about £85, iirc) from Johnny B! It's well worth looking at their footwear, even for a big foot like me!

Love your outfit with the mac - v chic! xx

  2. Some great picks Avril, you can't beat the feeling of grabbing a bargain the sale can you & I love the new scarf you're adding to your shop - such lovely colours.
    Jane xx

  3. May have already ordered from the Mint Velvet sale! Was so happy to spot a top I'd been planning to buy anyway, the Wynn Peplum - grey & white patterned with 3/4 sleeves.

Feeling your pain re school hols & the rain - think it's to brighten up next week!

  4. Oh my word, just LOOK at those Gap bags?!! They're gorgeous, and yet I'm pretty sure I've never seen either of them in our local Gap store. Also loving those MV boots. Stop with all the temptation!!!!! Hope you got the ironing done eventually :)

  5. I have never bought from MV but I love the jacket. I, too, have neglected Boden but I do make regular little trips to Gap. I haven't seen those bags! But enough of this, I love you in the trench, stripe and distressed jean. Perfectly finished off with the Navy Ash boots. H xx

That MV jumpsuit is such a bargain but I cant buy anymore jumpsuits. Off to have a look at GAP online, am on the hunt for a pair of white boyfriend jeans and I do like their jeans, Enjoy the Easter hols, my older two dont finish school until tomorrow,

  7. Mint Velvet is back on my radar this season, quite a few things I have my eye on! I agree with you those ankle boots are very nice, especially the back detail, they would be very flattering to the leg when worn with dresses. X

  8. Very much love the green/grey scarf!! Might have to purchase!

  9. I'm swooning over the Mint Velvet jumpsuit....really loving khaki this season! I am going to have a proper peruse of the MV as they seem to have some great bargains! You are sporting some gorgeous outfits this is so nice to see everyone shedding the darker colours and getting into Spring mode! xx

  10. Oooooo I love that sparkly Mint Velvet jumpsuit and those gap, pumps and bag...fab ideas here and what collages!!! Xxxx

Hi. I've bought the Boden Claudia coat. It's beautiful. Slightly more of a salmon pink but it's a good size, sleeve length, coat length etc. well worth a try. It's got a button fastening inside so it feels secure.

  12. Oh my gosh, the Mint Velvet biker jacket is stunning! Also loving the sequin jumpsuit. I love the striped top from GAP and the embellished Boden top is fab! Loving the new scarf and the ZARA mac. Looking forward to the shop re-opening. :) xxx

  13. ADORE that new scarf - I have a real thing for tassels right now.

  14. I love your outfit with the loafers, Avril. Looking forward to your shop opening soon too! Gap have some fab things at the moment. My virtual basket is full already! Lynne xx

I've seen the Gap bags in the flesh and the colour of the one you link to is lovely. 30% off at the moment makes it a bargain. However I have been saving my pennies and furiously ebaying to make more pennies and have just bought the Jigsaw Alice bag in red leather. I'm in love.
I also have the Johnnie B top you link to. Great for summer with faded ripped denim and tan sandals x

  16. I'm loving Gap at the moment - mostly due to being in the U.S. and having one on every corner! Just done a bit of a Gap haul as well :) looking forward to the shop opening again - the green and grey scarf is gorgeous x
